SoundAdapt 2.0

The research project SoundAdapt 2.0 builds on the SoundAdapt project and likewise deals with the development of acoustically variable kinetic surfaces. Adaptive wall panels are being developed that can be installed in existing rooms and enable room acoustic parameters to be varied quickly and easily according to the respective user needs. Effective geometrical changes of this variable surface system are achieved through the deployment of shape memory alloys (SMA). In this cooperative project, the weißensee academy of art berlin is especially focusing on how SMA actuators can be seamlessly integrated into flexible surfaces using 3D printing and casting processes.
